Whether they update AnvilNext to 3.0 or go with a totally new engine, the fact they build an engine with the RPG formula in mind could actually help to streamline development, since you don´t have to overhaul the gameplay mechanisms after two games. The fact they want to go with the RPG formula doesn´t mean anything for the engine, actually if they really commit to this formula and build update the upcoming Engine for the next gen machines focused on that formula this can turn out to be a good thing actually.
